According to the International Rosacea Foundation, among the many zinc based products on the market today, very few have been found that address the issue of acne without further aggravating the existing rosacea condition or as in the case of some products resulting in damage to the skin leading to rosacea. Among those treatments on the market today which address these issues without further damaging the skin is acne-ltd.

Exploring The Possible Connection Between Acne, Iodine And Milk
Dermatologists seem to agree that something in milk and dairy products may be linked to teen-age acne.
But is it hormones and "bioactive molecules," as a study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology suggested, or is there something else?
University at Buffalo dermatologist Harvey Arbesman, M.D., says there could be something else: Iodine.
Arbesman, a UB clinical assistant professor of dermatology and social and preventive medicine, details his reasoning in a letter published in the "Notes and Comments" section of the current (December) issue of the journal.
"It has been well-established since the 1960s that iodine intake can exacerbate acne," said Arbesman. "Nevertheless, various studies have shown there is still a significant level of iodine in milk in several countries, including the U.S., Britain, Denmark, Norway and Italy.
"Farmers give their cows iodine-fortified feed to prevent infection," he noted, "and they use sanitizing iodine solutions on their cows' udders and milking equipment. Consequently, there is lot of iodine in dairy products. For that reason, I've advised my acne patients for years to decrease their dairy intake."
Arbesman suggests the connection between acne and dairy products observed in the study could be secondary to the iodine content of the dairy products. "More importantly," he said, "the connection could be a combination of hormones and iodine."
It's important to bring the iodine connection to the fore to encourage the dairy industry to address the issue, Arbesman said. He suggested that future studies on the relationship of milk products and acne should consider the role iodine content may play.

Controlling Acne Flares
Acne-Ltd has done a great job at controlling my acne. I find my skin-tone is more even with much less overall redness. My pimple outbreaks have been reduced by approximately 85%. New outbreaks seem to be less intense and clear up more quickly. I have been very satisfied with the Acne-Ltd Treatment and will absolutely continue to use it.

Defining Acne Rosacea
The earliest written reference to "acne rosacea" appeared in an English acne medical text by Dr. Thomas Bateman in 1812, who stated that: "The perfect cure of adult acne and for acne rosacea is, in fact, never accomplished." Other 19th century references commonly listed acne rosacea among the various forms of acne. Dermatologists now know that rosacea is a different skin condition from acne, and that treatment for acne can often make rosacea worse. Yes, sometimes acne and rosacea often are found in 82% of patients.

Acne Inducing Cosmetics and Haircare Products
Certain cosmetics and hairstyling products do have the ability to induce acne – this is called acnegenicity. These can cause both blackheads and whiteheads (comedones), as well as pustules and papules.
Pustules appear a day or two after the offending cosmetic has been used – comedones appear later.
Those with acne often have to change the cosmetics they are using, especially if there is a sudden visible deterioration in the skin. It is also possible that something that you have used for months without any problems, can suddenly start to irritate your skin.
If you have ever had acne, all cosmetics you use, including foundation, blush, moisturizers and eye shadow should be oil free.
Check with your dermatologist before starting to use any new cosmetic. They may be able to tell you in advance about the acnegenicity of the particular brand of cosmetic, especially if the cosmetic itself does not indicate whether it is noncomedogenic (doesn't cause acne)
All cosmetics should be used very sparingly by anyone who has or has had acne.
When removing cosmetics, gentle cleansers, or plain soap and water, should be used – no harsh scrubbing.
Even if a particular cosmetic has been recommended for use, stop using it if your acne suddenly becomes worse. Everybody's skin is different, and what works for one person may not work for another.
Some cosmetics can make your skin excessively dry, flaky or itchy – avoid those. All skin irritants can make your acne worse.

Vitamin Supplements For Acne Control
Some vitamins and minerals work better than others to control or improve acne. A few to consider adding to your daily acne treatemnt regimine include:
Vitamin A (aka Retinoids) : Helps to prevent dry, flaky skin; reduces lines and wrinkles; anti-aging properties, helps reduce stretchmarks; helps to treat acne. It can be used topically, as a supplement, or gotten from your diet. It can be found in your diet in such things as eggs, organ meats, whole milk dairy, carrots and broccoli. Unless you suffer from a deficiency, topical use is best when treating the skin, as megadoses are not wise.
B-complex : The B vitamins as a whole help prevent dermatitis and hair loss, treat stress and depression, as well as helping with acne, eczema, and psoriasis. They are absolutely necessary for proper skin (and hair) nutrition, as they form the basis of skin, hair, and nail cells. They can be used topically, taken as supplements, or found in your diet. In the diet, they can be found in such things as bananas, eggs, oatmeal, and rice. Unless you suffer from a deficiency, supplements shouldn’t be necessary, but are not likely to be harmful.
B-1 (aka Thiamine) : Helps to rid the body of toxins. It also has antioxidant properties. Recommended dose if taken internally is around 100 mg 3 times daily.
B-2 (aka Riboflavin) : Essential for healthy hair, skin and nails; helps treat acne. Recommended dose if taken internally is around 100 mg 3 times daily.
B-3 (aka Niacin) : Helps with moisture retention in the skin and exfoliation, as well as helping to treat acne. Recommended dose if taken internally is around 200 mg 3 times daily.
B-5 (aka Pantothenic acid) : Helps with moisture retention in the skin and exfoliation; good for sensitive skin. Recommended dose if taken internally is around 100 mg 3 times daily.
B-6 (aka Pyridoxine) : Important for proper function of the immune system and antibody production. Recommended dose if taken internally is around 100 mg 3 times daily.
B-12 (aka Cyancobalamine) : Necessary for rapidly dividing cells (like the skin). This is a must for vegetarians, but not usually necessary for non-vegetarians, as it is mostly found in meat.
Vitamin C (aka L-ascorbic acid) : Needed for the production of collagen; protects from, and helps repair, sun damage; may reduce under-eye circles; aids in healing; inhibits the buildup of melanin (which can cause discolored ‘spots’); helps with eczema and psoriasis. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which works well both topically and internally, as well as being found in the diet. In the diet, it can be found in such things as citrus fruits, bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, and leafy greens. If taken as a supplement, the recommended dose varies everywhere from 500 mg daily, to 1600 mg 3 times daily; the ‘average’ seems to be 1000-1500 daily.
Vitamin D : This is a powerful antioxidant and anticarcinogen. However, because the main source of this vitamin naturally is exposure to sunlight, the anticarcinogen properties can get lost amid the other carcinogenic properties of being in the sunlight for long periods of time. You can supplement this topically, but avoid megadoses.
Vitamin E (aka Alpha tocopherol) : Helps to rehydrate the skin; prevents inflammation; protects from sun damage; reduces dry, rough skin; and perhaps most notably, significantly increases the healing rate. Like Vitamin C, this is a powerful antioxidant. It seems to work equally well for general skin care when used topically or taken as a supplement; and, to some extent, can also be found in the diet, in such things as vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, olives, spinach, and asparagus. Avoid megadoses though; while unlikely to do direct damage, it is possible to develop an allergy.
Vitamin K : Helps repair under-eye circles and heal bruises. Best used topically when and where needed.
Alpha-lipoic acid : A powerful antioxidant, that unlike most can penetrate both water and oil, making it more effective for treating skin. It can also greatly increase the efficacy of other supplements, particularly other antioxidants. It can be used topically or taken as a supplement.
Hyaluronic acid : Strong anti-aging and moisturizing properties; keeps the skin looking smoother and younger. It helps to ‘lubricate’ the joints for freer movement in addition to its skin-helping properties.
Essential Fatty Acids (esp. Omega-3 and Omega-5) : Helps reduce the production of irritating skin-oil; also helps treat acne, eczema and psoriasis. These can be taken as supplements or found in the diet. In the diet, they can be found in such things as vegetable oils, fish (such as salmon and tuna), and nuts. Fish oil capsules and Evening Primrose capsules are also good sources.
Chromium : Helps to fight acne and reduce infections. Recommended dose when taken internally is around 150 mcg daily.
Zinc : Helps to promote healing; reduces scarring and acne, as well as treating eczema and psoriasis. Also an antioxidant. Recommended dose when taken as a supplement is around 25-30 mg daily.
THE OCCURRENCE OF ACNE
Acne is the most common skin disease during adolescence and early adulthood. It peaks in females between the ages of 14 and 17 and in males between the ages of 16 and 19. Males are affected more severely than females. Eighty-five percent of high school students will have some acne. Ten percent of those with adolescent acne will continue to suffer from it into their 20’s and 30’s. And sometimes “adult acne” will begin in the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s and later years and continue due to stress and fatigue which can cause increased production of hormones by the adrenal gland with increased levels of androgens. These hormones worsen acne. Six percent of females and eight percent of males in their fifties and later still suffer from acne. Acne affects more than 17 million adult Americans and approximately 60 million adults in other countries.

Acne-Ltd Really Works
I wanted to thank you for a true miracle!! Within days after starting the Acne-ltd protocol, I started to see an improvement. Within one month, I felt like a "normal" person again. I no longer needed to be so self-conscious and wear my bangs long to cover the "acne" and redness on my forehead. My skin healed daily and knowing that this was a treatment composed of natural/restorative ingredients made me all the happier. I had tried so many other allopathic and alternative treatments. This is the one and only one that ever worked. THANK YOU!!! > > Things that really worked --- the extra water, making it ice cold, using compresses in the summer or anytime I feel a flush, the specific bar soap and the Jojoba oil. Friends have asked what I'm using so that they can tell their friends with acne. I'm spreading the word.
Again, I am eternally grateful. Words cannot tell you just how much. By the way, I hardly wear make-up anymore.

More Advantages of Acne-Ltd
Acne-Ltd III is more than 99 percent sulfur and sodium chloride plus zinc oxide. This means it is free of any carrier or base. Typically, pharmaceutically acceptable carriers such as ethanol, glycerol, sterile alcohol, and glycerylmonostearate are used to place a medication in solution or emulsion form for application. Some of these carriers themselves are irritants to acne. None is used for Acne-Ltd III which means pure conditioning and no added irritations for your skin.
Tests using Acne-Ltd III to study the effect upon test participants frustrated by years of acne treatments showed that members of the Acne-Ltd III test group experienced significant to excellent improvement in skin condition and appearance within two weeks and that the improvements increased for several months.
Some strains of bacteria, usually found in hospitals, have mutated and become resistant to known antibiotics. Bacteria, like all life forms, follow the simple rules of natural selection. Chance genetic changes that help an organism survive and reproduce in a challenging environment will be passed down to its progeny and thus become more prevalent. Bacteria cells can reproduce every 20 minutes; therefore, genetic change is very quick for them. Since even the most common bacteria become resistant to antibiotics within 2 to 3 months, acne sufferers face repeated trips to the dermatologist for new antibiotic prescriptions. Darwinism, or "survival of the fittest," has created superbugs which cannot be killed by normal antibiotics. Using Acne-Ltd III may reduce the need for antibiotics since skin stays clean, toned, and in a better condition to naturally resist infection. Help guard against resistant bacteria and keep the strong antibiotics for emergency situations.
The Benefits of Zinc in Acne Treatment
Topically applied zinc has been used for decades by various medical physicians for the treatment of inflammatory acne. They have used zinc either as the primary ingredient or in conjunction with other anti-acne medications. Currently, zinc is found in several different active forms in hundreds of over-the-counter skin care products and anti-acne medications. Topically applied zinc has been shown to have a potent anti-septic effect (Drs. Provost and Farmer). More specifically, evidence suggests that zinc has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal actions, as well as mild anti-inflammatory actions (Drs. Rock, Wilkinson, and Ebling).

How Does Acne Ltd Work?
(1) Acne Ltd is anti-inflammatory, thereby reducing redness (better than antibiotics which your body becomes immune to after 3-5 months).
(2) Acne Ltd is a vascular constrictor, so it reduces the size of the capillaries that cause redness and flushing (on which antibiotics have never had an effect).
(3) Acne Ltd dehydrates bacterial cells.
(4) Acne Ltd has a pH of approximately 7 (neutral). Many oral and topical treatments for acne are very acidic, which often makes for a continual problem for many acne sufferers and especially so in pregnancy and breast feeding.

What is Acne Rosacea?
The earliest written reference to "acne rosacea" appeared in an English medical text by Dr. Thomas Bateman in 1812, who stated that: "The perfect cure of acne rosacea is, in fact, never accomplished." Other 19th century references commonly listed rosacea among the various forms of acne. Dermatologists now know that rosacea is a different skin condition from acne, and that treatment for acne can often make rosacea worse.

Acne -Ltd Treatment System
I've been using the Acne-Ltd treatment system for over a year now with continued excellent results. The advice on the Lifestyles pages makes it possible to minimize the acne flares and breakouts. I have found it is possible to go weeks at a time without the needing to apply the Acne-Ltd disks. Use of Acne-Ltd has made it possible to turn a hopelessly chronic condition into a minor inconvenience.

The Differences in Teen and Adult Acne
In the teenage years, acne begins with blemishes on the forehead and around the nose. As you age the acne tends to migrate down your face, often being worse on the chin, jaw and neck in adult females. Breakouts are frequent during the premenstrual period in both teenage and adult acne. Adult acne, however, tends to be more low grade and more chronic. The only good thing about adult acne as opposed to teenage acne is that it comes with a sense of perspective: Adults tend to address the issues because of the cosmetic associations and because it is no longer OK to have acne. Adult acne tends to hit in the 20s and 30s and may continue until menopause. Raging hormones cause adolescent acne. In adult acne, hormones continue to be the culprit, but stress and the environment aggravate them.

Acne-Ltd Controls My Acne
Your product has been just fantastic at helping to control my acne.
My skin condition began as rosacea but over time has become more like acne which develops as a tender spot on my face first, and if I don't get to it with the Acne Limited III right away, degrades to a large, painful pustule with pus. It often occurs as three pustules. At that point it just has to run it's course unfortunately.
I've been following your program for the past five years: washing my face with Cetaphil gentle cleansing soap, applying the LTD III at the first sign of a problem, drinking plenty of water and I've switched to the linear razor reccommended by you. The program works.
I seem to notice outbreaks when I go through periods of high sugar intake and juice (limeade). I can't behave myself all the time.
But that's my story. Thank you very much for a product that actually does what's promised. It's why I've been a faithful user (and cheerleader) for the past five years......David

Acne Facts
Acne is a condition of the sebaceous glands of the skin. These sebaceous glands surround each hair follicle and produce sebum, an oily substance, to lubricate the hair. Acne usually appears on the face, back and chest. We list the causes of Acne.
Acne can be aggravated by sunlight, stress, allergies, alcohol, spicy foods and extremes in temperatures.
Retinoids at first dry and exfoliate the skin to minimize acne symptoms, but over time they may destroy the skin and cause severe disfigurement: "a flaming red, scaling, papule-covered face". AHA, BHA, and Accutane are examples of retinoids.
The use of antibiotics eventually leads to the development of resistant bacteria.)
Stress aggravates acne and rosacea.
Cigarette smoking aggravates acne and rosacea.
Alcohol provokes acne-related facial flushing (redness) because it dehydrates the body.

My Acne Story
At the age of 30, I thought I was about over my days of having acne. Then almost overnight my face turned into a nightmare. I didn't want to look at it much less have anyone else see it. I went to many doctors and tried most of the treatments that are out there. I would usually see a little improvement and then after a couple of months my skin would be right back to where it started. I can't tell you how many times someone asked my why I let my nose get so sunburned! I found the Acne-Ltd web site and thought I would give it a try. I had nothing to lose, my skin could not get much worse. I have now been using the discs for over 6 months. My face is almost totally cleared up. The redness is totally gone. I am greatful that I don't have to take potentially harmful medications and that I don't have to try and hide my face anymore.

ACNE-LTD REGIMEN IS FANTASTIC
This program has been fantastic. While my outbreaks were limited to 4 or 5 times yearly, they were painful and embarrassing. I've used the ACNE LTD-III program for 9 months now and the improvements both in preventing outbreaks and in stemming those I feel coming on have just been excellent. Retin-A basically did nothing. Benzoyl peroxide only caused more irritation of the skin. But this program has really worked. I will continue to follow the program and would definitely encourage people to try it. Thank you for a great product.

Growing Concerns About Accutane Prompt New Registry
WASHINGTON - Everyone who uses the acne drug Accutane will have to enroll in a national registry, along with every doctor who prescribes it and every drugstore that sells it — tough new restrictions aimed at preventing women from becoming pregnant with this birth defect-causing drug.
The Food and Drug Administration announced the long-anticipated program Friday, more than a year after the agency's scientific advisers urged the extra curbs because repeated safety warnings have failed to stop Accutane-damaged pregnancies.
Both male and female patients will have to enroll in the registry, called iPLEDGE, by Dec. 31 or they can no longer receive Accutane.
Women of childbearing age will have some additional steps: They're supposed to use two forms of birth control, get two negative pregnancy tests before their initial Accutane prescription, and show proof of another negative pregnancy test before each monthly refill.
Women already were supposed to be taking those steps — but using the computerized registry system, doctors and pharmacists are to ensure that that happens. One way: Each month, women will be required to enter into the registry, by phone or Internet, their two contraceptives.
All patients also must sign a document informing them of Accutane's risks, including the possibility that it contributes to depression or suicidal thoughts — a warning that FDA also strengthened on Friday.
But birth defects are the biggest concern with Accutane and its generic version, isotretinoin, medicine that is supposed to be prescribed only for severe acne but that critics say too frequently is given for more minor cases.
Since the drug began selling in 1982, the FDA has reports of well over 2,000 pregnancies among users. The vast majority ended in abortion, but the FDA counts more than 160 babies born with drug-caused defects. Critics note there likely were many more pregnancies because doctors haven't been required to report Accutane-linked pregnancies. Friday's new rules mandate that they do.
If a woman becomes pregnant while taking the acne drug, her baby can suffer severe brain and heart defects, mental retardation and other abnormalities, even if the mother took only a small dose for a short period. That's a risk for 30 days after stopping the drug, too.
Anyone who does get pregnant while taking the drug should stop the pills right away and notify their doctor, FDA warns.
The registry actually opens on Aug. 22, giving time for doctors, patients and pharmacies to understand how it will work before the provisions become mandatory. Wholesalers and pharmacies will have to register starting Oct. 31 or the drug's manufacturers can no longer ship them supplies of the pills.

THE CAUSE OF ACNE
The true cause of acne is often unknown. Androgens (hormones) can trigger acne in those predisposed. Plugging of hair follicles by a protein known as keratin causes the formation of so-called whiteheads and blackheads, which form when the plugged sebaceous glands within the hair follicles continue to secret sebum (an oily secretion). Sebum and skin cells cannot exit, thus accumulating in mass, causing the follicle to swell. If the swelling continues, it may rupture, allowing the surface bacteria (normally found on the skin) to enter and cause local infections or pimples. The pimples may then enlarge and form cysts. Irritation by inflammatory fatty acids within the plugged follicles, and an overgrowth of the bacteria Proprionibacterium together contribute to the process of acne formation. Other causes that may trigger acne include: irritating creams and oils; topical steroid creams; corticosteroid medication taken orally; puberty, certain drugs (e.g., Dilantin, Lithium, birth control pills, steroids), humid/hot weather, supplements (e.g., DHEA), and constant skin friction (e.g., use of motorcycle helmets, telephones) are some of the common risk factors.

Cleansing Acne Skin
Wash your skin with a mild cleanser, at least once in the morning and once in the evening and after heavy exercise. Wash your face from under the jaw to the hairline. Some people with acne may try to stop outbreaks and oil production by scrubbing their skin and using strong detergent soaps and rough scrub pads. However, scrubbing will not improve acne; in fact, it can make the problem worse. It is important that you thoroughly rinse your skin after washing. Astringents are not recommended, instead use a clean wash cloth to gently exfoliate the skin and open the pores. Dermatologists also recommend that patients regularly shampoo their hair. Those with oily hair may want to shampoo it every day.

Acne-Ltd Web Page Highlights
This review is intended to highlight key points from all the Acne-Ltd III web pages; however, if you care to review the original articles, simply click the links in the summary points below.
1. Acne is a condition of the sebaceous glands of the skin. These sebaceous glands surround each hair follicle and produce sebum, an oily substance, to lubricate the hair. Acne usually appears on the face, back and chest. We list the causes of Acne.
2. Acne can be aggravated by sunlight, stress, allergies, alcohol, spicy foods and extremes in temperatures.
3. Retinoids at first dry and exfoliate the skin to minimize acne symptoms, but over time they may destroy the skin and cause severe disfigurement: "a flaming red, scaling, papule-covered face". AHA, BHA, and Accutane are examples of retinoids.
4. The use of antibiotics eventually leads to the development of resistant bacteria.)
5. Stress aggravates acne and rosacea.
6. Cigarette smoking aggravates acne and rosacea.
7. Alcohol provokes acne-related facial flushing (redness) because it dehydrates the body.
8. Lifestyle changes and healthy habits can greatly reduce the redness, pimples, and other symptoms of acne. Recommended lifestyle changes:
Reduce stress.
Drink at least 8 eight-ounce glasses of water (2 liters) per day. Ten to twelve glasses (3 liters) per day is recommended.Water should be icy cold. The hypothalamus, the body's "thermostat", cannot properly regulate temperature (and prevent facial flushing) unless kept cool and supplied with adequate water. Water also hydrates the skin, preventing clogged pores. Increasing your water intake will also help to reduce facial redness and excess oil.
Avoid stimulants such as coffee, tea, tobacco products and excessive sugar.
Avoid alcohol.
Avoid vigorous scrubbing, exfoliants, and other abrasives.
Use the right soap. Most soaps are too harsh for acne-afflicted skin.
Recognize and avoid foods and beverages which provoke an acne-related allergic reaction.
Avoid large meals; eat instead three small meals.
Exercise.
Avoid astringents and astringent soaps.
Change wash-cloths and body towels after each use.
Avoid the sun as much as possible. Sun exposure aggravates acne.
9. Acne-Ltd is simple and easy to use.
10. Acne-Ltd has no known side effects.
11. You can be confident that you run no risk in buying Acne-Ltd.
12. Acne-Ltd effectively improves the appearance of skin affected by acne-related pimples, papules, pustules and facial redness.
13. These are the goals of Acne-Ltd.
14. Scientific articles on acne, acne treatment, and acne-related lifestyle changes.

Dramatic Improvement With Acne-Ltd
Acne-Ltd III is the first product I’ve used that made a dramatic improvement in the condition of my skin. In the first week I observed a rapid clearing of the pimples and within three weeks it has visibly reduced the amount of redness. Everyone remarks on the dramatic change in my skin. ~~Diane

Acne and The Acidic Lifestyle
Acne results from an overly acidic body and skin. The pH scale (potential of hydrogen) as you remember from your high school general science or chemistry class, ranges from 0 to 14 with 7 being neutral. As you rethink your past acne history, you will see that ‘all’ the acne triggers come from ‘acidic items’ regardless of whether they are foods, drinks, stress, out of breath due to not enough oxygen (alkaline) and not able to exhaust enough carbon dioxide (acidic).
We all know that if we hold our breath for 30 seconds or 60 seconds, we will all notice that our face turns pink or red. We all know, but hardly think that the cause is a build up of carbon dioxide which is an ‘acidic’ gas and we have a shortage of oxygen.
Very similarly, when we exercise for a short period, we have a build up of ‘lactic acid’ which is a body waste which is obviously acidic. Likewise, those with acne need to be very concerned about the build up of acids in our blood stream due to the foods and beverages that we consume. We all know of our triggers such as alcohol, coffee, pizza, candy/cookies, various medications, etc. which all have a pH below 7.0 or is termed acidic.
Our objective therefore should be to balance, buffer or neutralize the acids with alkaline. Water is alkaline with a pH of about 7.3, and likewise more alkaline foods such as more “fresh vegetables and fruits are needed which are alkaline (higher pH than 7.0). Acidic foods and drinks are the problem with a pH of below 7.0 such as coffee at 2.2 and beer averaging 2.0 to 2.5, wines at 3.0, whiskeys/gin/vodka at 4.0 (2 ounces mixed with six ounces of water at 7.3 averages about 6.5 pH or so which is a good drink. The opposite is true when mixed with coke as Soft Drinks have a pH of about 2-2.5 pH. So try hard to minimize the above drinks and delete them entirely if possible while increasing your alkaline foods.
To improve your total body and skin condition, eat and drink 90% of the alkaline foods with 10% meats while avoiding breads, pastas, sugars, desserts, etc. This acidic/alkaline scale is logarithmic; meaning that each number is ten times stronger than the preceding number. For example, a pH of 2 is ten times more acidic than a pH of 3 and one hundred times more acidic than a pH of 4. So you will now be able to more easily understand why an acne sufferer needs to minimize the acidic foods and drinks as it takes so many more alkaline foods and drinks to compensate.
The body has several different ways to ensure that the pH balance stays in the normal range of 7.35 to 7.45. These are referred to as buffer systems. Through normal day to day activity in the body, acids are formed as waste products that need to be neutralized, alkalized, or buffered and eliminated. Some of the acids are released with CO2 from exhaling; others are excreted via the kidneys. With acidic foods and drinks, there is always more carbon dioxide (acidic) while alkaline foods produce much more oxygen (think of your high school classes of the tree, grass, and plants giving off oxygen). These systems work together in the healthy human body to keep the pH level within normal ranges. Sometimes with extreme intake of acidic foods and drinks, the normal system can not compensate and the body becomes even more stressed resulting in more stress hormones which are also acidic in nature causing more of a blush/flush.
Likewise, simple illnesses such as influenza, minor surgery, or emotional and mental stress continue to lower the pH of the body and with more resulting skin blushing and flushing. Almost all medications are acidic except anti-acid medications such as Zantac, Milk of Magnesium, etc.
You can make sure that your water and many foods are alkaline by purchasing pH paper at most drug stores at a cost of $12 to measure the pH of the water, drink or foods. Your urine should be in the 6.6, 6.8, and up to a 7.0 pH range most often as the culmination of the body process. As you can imagine if you drink and eat many acidic foods, the result will be deterioration of the skin, body organs & bones. The adrenal cortex secretes cortisol, a natural body hormone of about 10 mg of cortisol daily, with peak cortisol levels occurring early in the morning and therefore the acne flushing and acne pimples papules will look best in early mornings after this natural anti-inflammatory drug. The hormone that will report back to the original brain centers together with other body organs to tell it to stop the whole cycle. But since cortisol is a potent hormone, the prolonged secretion of it will lead to health problems such as the break down of cardiovascular system, digestive system, musculoskeletal system with resulting osteoporosis and arthritis - rheumatism, and the immune system.
Also, when any organism, system or body does not have a chance for recovery, it will lead to both catecholamine and cortisol depletion. The entire concept is "not to keep" the body in a 'fight or flight' system with stress, stimulation, or the use of 'acidic' food/drinks which you will learn more about on the page entitled "Flushing: Types, Patterns & Systems".

Drinking Water Can Improve Acne
When it comes to an effective acne treatment, knowledge is power. When choosing a treatment for your acne condition, it is important to know about acne treatment lifestyle changes. A wide range of (lifestyle) treatments can give you control over your acne. The goal of an effective acne treatment is to reduce pimples, adult acne, acne rosacea, cystic acne, acne vulgaris, and other acne types.
It is important in the treatment of acne to treat your whole self in as many ways as possible. For the vast majority of people with acne, effective treatment includes lifestyle changes that can help minimize symptoms, reduce inflammation, and maintain normal bodily functions. If you change your lifestyle and eating habits, and therefore reduce your stress level, you'll be even happier with Acne-Ltd III.
When the body becomes stressed from many causes, the adrenal cortex converts adrenal androgens to testosterone in BOTH men and women, resulting in overactive sebaceous glands. The ovaries produce 25% of the testosterone while 75% is converted from adrenal androgens in the normal female. Women only have 10% of the testosterone that men have. Men have thicker skin and muscles than women and can handle much more testosterone obviously. When the male or female body is stressed, the adrenal androgen conversion can almost double the testosterone in both men and women. This causes the T zone of the face to be oily, while other areas are still dry from dehydration. Adult acne and rosacea are sometimes a by-product of stress and/or dehydration. Water and estrogen calm the "body's stress alarm system". The most important element of acne treatment is to keep the skin (body) hydrated.
Water is a most important acne treatment in that it is alkaline (pH 7.3) and can be considered a natural treatment or an almost free acne treatment. Click to the left to read about other ways to treat acne by changing lifestyles.

Acne-Ltd Improved My Skin Condition
When I first ordered the Acne-Ltd treatments my acne was out of control. I had moderate to severe facial redness, pimples and pustules ranging daily from mild to severe.
When I began the treatment, I was very strict with my water intake, food limitations and supplements. When my skin was bad the disks worked wonders. They lasted me for at least two years.
My skin seems to be in some sort of remission at this time thanks to the Acne-Ltd disks. My acne is no longer a problem. I no longer eat right, I don't drink water and I don't take any supplements or take any oral antibiotics, but thanks to the disks, my skin is happy.

Acne-Ltd: What it is and What it Does
The ingredients of Acne-Ltd III are zinc oxide, sodium chloride, manganesium sterate, polyethylene glycol, iron oxide and sulfur (sulfur is used externally only and not to be confused with sulfa which is taken internally only).
Acne-Ltd III battles your acne with a comedolytic (blackhead-eliminating) action. It dehydrates and drains the pores, thus preventing new pimples from forming. Unlike most acne medications, which leave the skin dry and irritated, Acne-Ltd III contains an anti-bacterial agent that moisturizes the skin while fighting bacteria.

Acne-Ltd
Acne-Ltd III is a topical treatment that will help to improve your acne skin condition. The unique thing about Acne-Ltd III is that it kills bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi only in the areas to which you apply it, instead of killing beneficial bacteria throughout the body -- as many other acne medications such as antibiotics do.

Visible Improvement With Acne-Ltd
I noticed an improvement of my skin within 2 weeks of starting to use the Acne-Ltd III Treatment system in November 2001. As of today, I have not had a single flare-up and my skin is clear. I am so grateful to finally find a product that is safe and effective on my skin. I cannot thank you enough. Sincerely, Carolyn Moore

My skin is clearer now
I know the misery of dealing with acne and want to encourage anyone who suffers from it to try Acne-Ltd. I have suffered from facial acne to a greater or lesser degree for 10 years now. I have taken antibiotics, used every topical application going and have lived in fear of a breakout before every special occasion. I came across Acne-Ltd in November 04 on the web and decided to give it a go. After all, the antibiotics were becoming less effective and I was tired of taking them and was reluctant to try Accutane, which was the next step for me. I didn't expect Acne-Ltd to work, but thought I should at least cross it off my list. I have taken Acne-Ltd for 3 months now. My skin is clear and feels entirely different - stable and less bumpy. My skin tone is more even and my facial color less red. Acne-Ltd worked for me, maybe it'll work for you too.

I Found An Acne Product That Works!
I am 32yrs. old and have been suffering from acne since the age of 16! The only thing that worked for me was going on Tetracycline. Well, this last time that didn't even work because I have built up a tolerance to all the antibiotics.
I was at wits end when I decided to give Acne Ltd a try, I thought what the heck, can't hurt to try.
I couldn't believe my eyes, within a few days the pustules were beginning to disappear and the overall redness was greatly lessened. My husband looked at me at commented "boy, that stuff is really working!"
I was so happy to have found something that is topical and nothing I have to ingest. It is dangerous to be on antibiotics for too long.
Well here I am 3 months later with absolutely no sign of acne, yippee!!!! Thank you not only for your incredible product but for all the excellent personal customer service you gave me along the way. It made all the difference in the world.

How Does Acne-Ltd Work?
The key to Acne-Ltd III is simplicity. It allows for the direct delivery to the skin of many well known and well documented anti-acne ingredients without the usual accompanying side effects. The role of these ingredients is as follows:
Zinc: Topically applied zinc has been used for decades by various medical physicians for the treatment of inflammatory acne.
Sulfur: For over two decades, sulfur has been used for the treatment of acne and rosacea. Clinical studies have demonstrated that it is extremely effective in the treatment of papules and pustules (Drs. Ellis and Strawiski). Many dermatologists tailor acne treatments to the individual by varying the concentration of sulfur in a given preparation (from 2 percent to 15 percent sulfur). Acne can be a long-term condition for many sufferers. For this reason Drs. Blom and Hornmark were interested in a non-toxic, topically administered treatment that would be as effective as orally administered drugs such as antibiotics. To date, these medical physicians use topical sulfur as their primary anti-acne treatment. In a double-blind clinical study of 40 acne patients, these physicians found that acne-related papules and pustules responded much better to topical 10 percent sulfur than to oral antibiotics. In fact, they found that with four weeks of topical sulfur treatment, the average number of papules and pustules dropped significantly (from 213 pimples before treatment to 17 pimples after treatment), that this clearing was much better than that attained by treatment with oral tetracycline. In a separate series of clinical studies, similar results were found by Dr. Strauss and colleagues.
Sodium Chloride, Copper Oxide, Magnesium Stearate and Polyethelene Gylcol: These ingredients have long been well known for their anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory actions, by which they reduce redness better than antibiotics, and their vascular constrictor action, which reduces overall facial redness whereas no other products constrict the dilated skin vessels as well as these ingredients do.

What is Acne-Ltd?
Acne-Ltd III is a new, topical treatment that will help to improve your acne skin condition. The unique thing about Acne-Ltd III is that it kills bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi only in the areas to which you apply it, instead of killing beneficial bacteria throughout the body -- as many other acne medications such as antibiotics do.
The ingredients of Acne-Ltd III are zinc oxide, sodium chloride, manganesium sterate, polyethylene glycol, iron oxide and sulfur (sulfur is used externally only and not to be confused with sulfa which is taken internally only).
These ingredients are compressed under 22,000 pounds of pressure per square inch into a very concentrated smooth form for easy application to the facial skin areas. Acne-Ltd III is highly concentrated.
Leave the face wet after washing and apply Acne-Ltd III. By simply gliding the Acne-Ltd III application over the affected areas, the ingredients are dissolved onto the affected areas, leaving an invisible film that continues to treat the area even though the product is unnoticeable on the skin.
Acne-Ltd III can be sold and mailed to any country of the world.

Acne-Ltd Fits the Corporate Image
I suffer from acne. As an adult in the workplace, image and presentation are everything. Controlling one's acne in order to present a professional image is paramount to confidence, success and the portrayal of a competent active. Acne breakouts just don't "fit" into that image.
Like so many others, I've tried many products but the end result was always that my skin was worse. The breakouts never went away, and the harsh chemicals just seemed to further irritate my skin. When I started using Acne-Ltd I was feeling very desperate for a cure - and I believe I have found it!
My breakouts now are minimal and easily covered up. The redness, skin sensitivity and irritation are no longer an issue. This product has given given me the confidence to face the corporate world knowing that when I make a presentation, I will not be pre-judged by appearance but rather the focus will be on what I have to say.
Sincerely,
A. Wilson

Three Acne Causing Factors
1) Abnormal keratinization of the lining of the sebaceous glands caused by androgen stimulation, resulting in plugging of the gland.
2) Increased production of sebum by the sebaceous gland due to androgen stimulation.
3) A bacterium, Propionibacterium acnes, proliferates within the gland and modifies the sebum. Propionibacterium acnes is a bacterium normally found on the skin.
The plugging of the gland and the action of the bacterium cause an intense inflammatory reaction, resulting in a blackhead (open comedone) or a whitehead (closed comedone). The color of the blackhead is due to melanin granules and is not dirt. Continued plugging and inflammation lead to the pustules (pimples), papules and cysts of acne.

Healthy Hints

Sulfur in Acne-Ltd
Acne Ltd contains sulfur as a base ingredient. Sulfur is one of the best tolerated topical anti-acne medications for acne skin. It has a much greater action on papules and pustules then the standard OTC products. In addition, sulfur is also indicated for the treatment of the dry flaky patches (seborrheic dermatitis) that often occur from overuse of salicyclic acid and benezoyl peroxide. So Furthermore, the disks sulfur concentration of 1.5% is a great starting dose. People usually respond beautifully to 0.5 to 2% sulfur -- without irritation. However, at higher concentrations (like 5-10%), sulfur may actually cause facial vasodilation, so the key to remember is less is more beneficial.

The Red Face of Acne
Acne sufferers may have more facial blood vessels than the average, or their vessels may be severely damaged. In either case, the result is that the body cannot handle the dilation of facial vessels easily or properly. There are various factors that can cause facial vessels to dilate or contract.
Finding ways to control the flushing and redness associated with acne can make acne more tolerable. For tips on controlling redness visit:

Acne-Ltd Cleared my Acne
Acne-Ltd is a truly remarkable product! After developing adult acne I tried many over the counter products, expensive cosmetic remedies, and dermatologist recommended products only to see my acne worsen. I started searching on the internet to find an alternative method to help with my acne and came across the Acne-Ltd web pages.
Your thoughts that acne starts from within the body, confirmed what I had also felt to be the case.
After ordering your product, I started noticing a definite difference in the amount of oil my face was producing, and the clearing of my acne. My skin looks great!

Acne-Ltd Reduces Pimples and Facial Redness
I have tried many different brands of acne treatments and none compare to Acne-Ltd. The treatment stays true to it's claims. It doesn't promise anything it doesn't deliver. Acne-Ltd calms and soothes the facial redness and irritation; and reduces the appearence of the pimples.
Also, my skin used to break out fairly often, but since I have been using Acne-Ltd my skin has been clearer than it has in years.
I think your product is amazing. I cannot say enough great things about it. Everyone I know who tries this product absolutely loves it.
I do feel that perhaps you need to do more marketing for this product and your other products in general. I have found that very, very few people are aware of your skin care products.

Acne-Ltd Out Performs Other Acne Products
I started using Acne-Ltd III in February of 2003. I won’t list the name of the product I had used previously but it contained benzyol peroxide and glycolic acid. When I started using the Acne-ltd system, I had pimples, redness, and my skin was irritated and flakey from the product I had been using.
I was very skeptical about trying yet another product, but I felt no company would offer a 120 day money back guarantee if they didn't believe in their product and feel confident of the results!
Well, I lost the pimples, the irritation is gone, the flakiness is improving daily and the only time my face is red now is when I apply blush.

Consistant Improvement With Acne-Ltd
Acne-ltd has worked well at improving my skin's texture, as well as acne pimples. My skin is really beginning to look normal again. No pimples or redness and my scars are gradually fading. It may not be a magical "slam it on and the acne's gone" cure all, but then nothing is. Instead I found this treatment to provide a constant, consistant improvement in my skin's condition and appearance.

Acne-Ltd Recommendation
I do not normally write to companies, but your product has improved my skin so much that I had to write and thank you! I live in Los Angeles, and the air pollution combined with a busy lifestyle can really take its toll on my facial skin. I am also outside a lot, so the combination of sun, sand, sweat and sunscreen is also a challenge to the breakout-prone. However, since I started using Acne-Ltd III, my skin has shown much improvement in clearness and tone. Thank you so much for your wonderful product, which I have recommended to all of my friends!
Sincerely,
Carolyn

Acne-Ltd Improved My Acne
The Acne-Ltd treatment system has done more to improve my acne than anything I've tried and believe me I think I tried it all. My only regret is that it took me so long to find out about Acne-Ltd. Within the first two weeks of use, my breakouts were minimal and with continued use, my skin has become clear and my skin-tone more even than it has ever been before!
